BOOKS for Bloom

Summer reading program

At Bloom, we’re big on education, and we know the importance of continuing to engage our students in learning opportunities over the summer months. Reading over the summer can prevent regression on months of hard-earned progress.

. It doesn’t matter when or where your child reads, just encourage them to keep reading.  Students can be read to, read a graphic novel, magazine, or any type of book. For our young readers, language activities such as following multi-step redirections, telling and retelling stories, recounting the day's events, drawing attention to print, talking about pictures in a book are all great activities to build future reading skills.

Have your student color in a petal for every 30 minutes he/she reads. When the flower is complete, get ready to celebrate! Bring the flower to the Bloom truck (Big Bessie) to redeem for a FREE kids-size acai bowl. They will also get to honk Bessie’s horn for a celebration with the Bloom crew! The child’s flower will then be featured on our flower wall on the truck for the remainder of the summer. We limit one tracking form per student per month.
